Gareth Booher you’re welcome!

I wouldn’t say they are uncomfortable to walk around the boat , they are comfortable. I wear them moving around on the boat from wade spot to wade spot. But they do not have a non-slip grip meant for walking around a boat drifting. I don’t feel like I have a confident footing using them as deck shoes so I take mine off and go barefoot or put on actual deck boots over my waders when it’s cold.

I have the tall ones and wear them with and without waders. They comfortable in the water but are a bit clunky walking around but not enough to really make me wish I had the shorter ones. I’d rather have more leg protection than less

Check out the boiling pot it’s worth a stop , it’s technically in Fulton. For hotels there’s a lot of airbnbs around the same price as the hotels in rockport/fulton but use Airbnb instead of Vrbo , for whatever reason there’s more on there than Vrbo if you go that route.

Capt_JSanchez thanks man! Thanks for making such detailed reports each week

Just switch the lure not the whole jig unless you need to change jig weight. If your worried about having to retie and want to switch from a jig to a hard plastic with the same rod, stinky pants makes a speed swivel that’s pretty good quality. FG is a pain to tie, the surgeons knot or a good ol’ double uni knot will work just as good.

If you want to drive out to the island there’s two small parks off hwy 361 that have walk in access. The first is a small park before Newport pass, park and follow the walking trail till it opens to a flat with osyter shell clumps and drop off that’s behind the spoil islands parallel to packery channel. Second there is another small park called packery flats park. This has access to a flat that opens up to a drop off called deadman’s hole, wade out to around where the power line cross the flat to get to the drop off. There’s a few spots off Laguna shores in the Bluff from about the bridge after the new boat ramp towards the causeway, just park on the side of the road and walk in there.
