Had an awesome day out with Capt Caleb and Steve today. It was my first time sight casting from a tower, and being up on that angle was a really cool experience and a style of fishing I enjoyed. We saw easily 30+ reds today and if I could actually cast worth a damn, I would’ve landed some more lol, but being able to see them react to your lure and then watching the eat when they do connect is pretty cool. Definitely something I recommend giving a try if you’ve never fished up on a tower before.

Thanks again Capt Wayne, can’t wait until the next time!

Had one of my best days yet fishing the marsh/drains today in Port Lavaca. Ended up with 22 reds, 4 trout, a flounder, and a drum. Decent out going tide all morning and the fog was super thick until about 11:00am, and around noon the sun finally started warming things up. Kinda regret leaving as I think the afternoon bite could’ve been awesome but the wife had some caldo de pollo waiting for me at home. Water was extremely clear, especially for fishing drains.

I also owe Larry a huge thank you for hooking me up big time on the Caudal Peduncle spelling contest lol. Caught everything on a Mansfield margarita BTS Jr. Threw a topwater for a while but didn’t get any blow ups.

Nice weekend had a great day Saturday- the tide was up high but paddled back as far as I could get and found several reds tailing. Haven’t been able to kayak fish in a while but noticed that the shrimp popping around were a lot bigger in size. Got to enjoy an Aggie win afterwards and even the Texans somehow managed to get a W!

Want to give a big shout out to Capt Lolo out of Port O’Conner and Mike Butler at Angler’s Anonymous. I was lucky enough to win a trip from that raffle that supported the Central Texas Relief Fund. Had a great morning wading with my dad, the reds were absolutely destroying topwaters up shallow on the shoreline, we caught easily over 20 reds all together. Work has been whooping my ass so it came at a perfect time! Big thanks again to those guys for the generosity.

First time fishing a new moon at night out in Port Lavaca. Didn’t do as well as I hoped for but did enjoy watching this red absolutely inhale a Mansfield knocker right before sunset. Still a good trip and good experience to learn from.
