Need some advise. I have located some redfish sitting on an oyster bed in 2' of water or less. I am throwing a cork with Gulp. I either catch a fish or get hung up half the time. I am trying to keep my cork and not litter the area with them. Plus it gets a little spendy at $8 a pop. I tried using a shorter leader, about a 12", but I could not get bit. However, my usual longer leader did. I was thinking of using a lighter leader so I can break it off easier and keep my cork. Maybe 10-15 lbs. To light? I am using 20-25 pound Seagar now, just depends on what I grab. Any ideas on how to solve this problem. Topwater? Wake bait? Cheaper cork? Please let me know what ideas you have. Thank you in advance. Â
Night Vision: I love to fish at night, but like most people my age I can not see a night anymore. My last attempt was a epic failure ending with a boat tow from Boat US. Has anyone used night vision to run there boat at night. Or, used night vision for anything else that can recommend a quality manufacturer. I have found plenty of them online but it looks like you can spend as little or as much as you want on a pair. Any info is appreciated. FISHING IS LIFE!
I have wanting to take my boat into Nick's Lake and back through to Salt Lake. Does anyone have any navigation advice. Things to watch out for: shell, to shallow, not worth it and the like. I don't see much on Navionics to watch out for, except for a shell island as you come into to Nick's. Nick's looks pretty shallow 2-4 in the middle and Salt Lake 3-5 ft depending on where you are. Any info is appreciated. Â
I was trying to post a video from fishing this past weekend to get y'all's opinion on something and I can't post it. Is it not possible to post your own video on the site? I only see how to reference and post AU vids. Please advise.
I spend a lot of time on the ICW. Some barges displace just little bit of water, some displace a ton, and some throw a wake you could surf behind. Does anyone know a way of telling them apart as they approach? Thanks in Advance!!
On Friday 03/07 I was fortunate to go on an instructional fishing trip with Captain "Sensei" McCumber. While the conditions and fishing did not turn out they way we planned it was a great day on water. I recently bought a boat after not owning one for about 20 years. Needless to say after learning to drive the boat, figure out the trolling motor, read the GPS fish finder and trying to figure out where to catch fish my head has been spinning. It got so bad I couldn't even cast may reel without blowing it up almost immediately. Extremely frustrating!! He fixed that in about 2 seconds. Caleb is a natural instructor, knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining. Not one time did I feel stupid or foolish for asking him any question at all and believe me I asked. If I missed something he simply reminded me and it was greatly appreciated. After his coaching I took my boat out Monday and was able to locate and catch several nice fish.  If you have the opportunity to go fishing with him I highly recommend it.     Â
