I know a number of you heard the Bite Me podcast on Tuesday talking about the unfortunate accident that happened down in POC.  I received a list of items for a trauma kit from a member of the Border Patrol about a year ago and passing it along.

In addition to a regular first aid kit here are the minimal  recommended items:

Chest seal x2, Tourniquet x3 CAT-T x1 RATs, Compressed Gauze x2, Trauma Sheer x1, Elastic Bandage Roll, Gloves

Other items:

nasopharyngeal airway, Emergency Blanket, Blood clotting powder, Clotting gauze, Emergency laceration closures

Boating.

I just picked a 21' Freedom Commander with a 175 SHO. I like the boat, runs well but cavitates when I go to get on plane. The prop it came with is a Rubex Solais 143/17. I can get it up to 6000rpm after tilting the motor and picking up the jack plate. Just thought I'd ask for some advice on whether I should look into a cavitation plate, trim tabs or just jump right in to getting a different prop. TIA

Night fishing

I’ve tried wading at night 5-10 times. Out of those trips I’ve only had luck a handful of times and it was a grind. In the past I’ve always waded areas I know would be productive during the day, and I normally tried fishing them at night hoping for bigger fish. It’s just never panned out. I’m curious what conditions guides and successful night fisherman look for. I could probably boil my question down to this, would you rather night fish on a full moon, clear sky, low to moderate wind? Or on a new moon, cloudy sky, 10+mph wind?

Quick question, just got back into Texas coastal fishing (trout/redfish) and lwill be purchasing new rod(s). Expect to be primarily wade fishing but would be fishing off a boat as well.  Looking at rods with a 6'-2" or 6'-5" length. Would i be giving up something going with one length or the other? Is the shorter the better. or am i overthinking. Thanks in advance for your experience! CB
