So after doing the live stream Tuesday I had to take my own advice. I got to thinking about plastic size and girth more than length when big vs small. It reminded of a day in Baffin and I caught three 25” trout in about 5 casts all over 5 lbs. We were grinding that day and the fish were sitting on bottom and we couldn’t get our corkies down to them. They weren’t hitting plastics at all though and I dug through the boat bag and tried to find something the shape of a Corky that would go down 4’. I came across these that my son had won in a grab bag and put them on a 1/8 oz jig head. I proceeded to put on a seminar the rest of the day with them. All of that said I went on a quest to find some more of them after our discussions on Tuesday. Big profile, thick body, slow descent. Sometimes I think profile matters more in the size discussion than length. You aren’t necessarily going bigger by just going longer. Now I need K Wigglers to make a 7” ball tail this thick!

We filmed a setting up a kid to wade in the winter video this week. If you notice in it, he doesn’t have any sort of tackle bag. If your kid can tie knots fast like Jace, I repeat, DO NOT GIVE HIM A TACKLE BAG, he will be swapping lures more than Gardner. lol.
