A really good option that is often overlooked for summertime fishing are the spoil Islands along the Corpus Christi ship channel. When the ultra shallow flats get hot and the fish are lethargic, the deeper water along the edge of the channel is a great opportunity. The wind blows all the time in this place is not a really good option, but in the summertime when the wind calms down Maneuvering along these spoiled banks can be done. It does have its challenges though. The port of Corpus Christi is busy and there is some tanker traffic that will throw big waves, but I think the turbulence is part of what keeps those fish happy out there. Not a lot of seagrass, but there are sandbars that extend Long distances from the islands and when the water is clear, you can see that structure. Also, when the tankers pass by when they throw away in the areas that the waves crash, you can also detect shallow water. You can expect speckled trout out there, not too many redfish, but it is the land of bigger trout
