It’s cleaning up nicely but there are some parts that are brackish from the freshwater runoff

Good question. I’ve come to note you need, current (little at least) access to deep water, structure such as grass beds or even a little shell, accessible deep water, and a bottom that is subject to holding mud and preferred a little gravel. I realize this may sound like any other good fishing spot but time and historical data m (catching big females consistently in areas described) supports the fact these fish will likely spawn there.

Can’t go wrong with a good medium action rod for that.
