Great video definitely seeing the difference in how the birds react. Now if I can ever actually have that happen to me….

Had a very awesome day fishing with my son Kenneth and Captain Pat Gardner. We were even more lucky when Capt Caleb TV asked if he could join in and bring Jimmy to shoot some video for Angler U. For my son and it was a day for firsts as we both caught our first trout on a Corky Fat boy. We also got to watch and learn from two of the very best anglers on the Texas coast. I’ll share one lesson we learned right off the bat this morning. As we got to our first wading spot you could see a lot of nervous bait and we quickly jumped out of the boat and began to throw topwaters. After 10 minutes of no blowups Pat said to switch to corky fat boys which we did and right away we caught some fish. Kenneth asked Pat why the switch and Pat said with that much nervous bait and no blow ups it was clear the fish wanted something else. Switching quickly like that with all that bait was lesson one of the many we got today.
A special shout out to Angler U for helping to put this trip together.

How far from the mouth of the river do you travel up river before you start fishing?

I know this is a saltwater group but I had to share this picture of this catfish I just caught in my neighborhood lake, caught it on a spinner bait with a bone diamond wig a lo. I’m telling you it’s the AU Hat.

This morning My son and I took our kayaks out to Texas Bayou in Sabine Pass for a 1/2 day trip and it went pretty well. We ended up with 10 reds from rats to one 29.5” 9# slob, 3 keeper trout, and 1 foul hooked Gar that was like 4’ long and put up a hell of a fight. All the fish were caught on a plum blue mf chartruse wig a lo on a 1/4 oz knotty hooker jig head. The tide was falling and caused most of the drains to the bayou to be completely dry but it did make it easy to locate the fish. The wind was 15-20 and gusty. Not a bad way to spend a morning with one of my sons. And the Angler U hat continues to bring the karma.

Man this brought back a ton of memories fishing with my two sons catching a ridiculous amount of trout in East Matagorda.
