This morning My son and I took the kayaks out and fished a new area that we’ve never been to before. It is called Landers Marsh Preserve located on the south shoreline of Moses lake. It was a much bigger area than I anticipated. We ended up catching 2 slot reds, 1 slot trout, 1 drum, a couple of sand trout, a bunch of rat reds, and 1 flounder (yes they are real). A few were caught on a corky fat boy and the majority on Knockin Tail Lures 4” pink ice. Really like this location as it is protected from most winds and a short drive from Katy.
The weather was crazy, it was windy, cloudy, and kinda cold all morning. As we drove back into Houston the sun was out and it was beautiful outside.

Had a very awesome day fishing with my son Kenneth and Captain Pat Gardner. We were even more lucky when Capt Caleb TV asked if he could join in and bring Jimmy to shoot some video for Angler U. For my son and it was a day for firsts as we both caught our first trout on a Corky Fat boy. We also got to watch and learn from two of the very best anglers on the Texas coast. I’ll share one lesson we learned right off the bat this morning. As we got to our first wading spot you could see a lot of nervous bait and we quickly jumped out of the boat and began to throw topwaters. After 10 minutes of no blowups Pat said to switch to corky fat boys which we did and right away we caught some fish. Kenneth asked Pat why the switch and Pat said with that much nervous bait and no blow ups it was clear the fish wanted something else. Switching quickly like that with all that bait was lesson one of the many we got today.
A special shout out to Angler U for helping to put this trip together.

I know this is a saltwater group but I had to share this picture of this catfish I just caught in my neighborhood lake, caught it on a spinner bait with a bone diamond wig a lo. I’m telling you it’s the AU Hat.

This morning My son and I took our kayaks out to Texas Bayou in Sabine Pass for a 1/2 day trip and it went pretty well. We ended up with 10 reds from rats to one 29.5” 9# slob, 3 keeper trout, and 1 foul hooked Gar that was like 4’ long and put up a hell of a fight. All the fish were caught on a plum blue mf chartruse wig a lo on a 1/4 oz knotty hooker jig head. The tide was falling and caused most of the drains to the bayou to be completely dry but it did make it easy to locate the fish. The wind was 15-20 and gusty. Not a bad way to spend a morning with one of my sons. And the Angler U hat continues to bring the karma.

Freaking awesome day in West Galveston sight casting reds. It was just like the videos with the tails like little flags waving over here. I caught 6 reds from 22”-26” and my son caught 8 22”-29.5”. All caught in a foot or less of water on KWigglers Wig-A LO in the Truth color.

It’s gotta be the hat!!! I’ve worn my Angler U hat on my last 3 trips and caught a big red on each trip 27.5”, 27”, and 29”. Coincidence? I think not.

Had a great day yesterday with my son and Captain Scott Null. It was our first trip on a poling Skiff. We both learned a ton as Scott is all about teaching and answering endless questions.
