Proud of my son Kenny and the success he had the past two days while we were fishing in Port Mansfield with Captain Wayne Davis. We fished in less than ideal conditions and Capt. Wayne put us on them. Kenny caught his PB trout two days in a row. Mansfield Knockers were getting crushed by reds and trout. Heck Captain Wayne even caught a huge sheepshead on a Darter.
First two reds of the year. Headed out to Texas Bayou this afternoon. The tide was ripping in and it had to have risen 12”-15” in the two hours I was out there. Caught them both on a knotty hooker spinner bait with a KDEN lures 365 shad. Just a quick trip today to try out my new Old Town Kayaks Autopilot 120. Absolutely happy with the Kayak and looking forward to many trips this coming year.
Caught a couple of nice reds this morning in East Matagorda. They were caught on a corky fat boy floater in a dark purple color. Water was settling down and getting very clear. Don’t really see a lot of bait activity.
A couple of weeks ago during the livestream Captain Anthony Meshell put out he wanted to take some veterans fishing so my son Keith and I took him up on the offer. Honestly it was one of the best trips I’ve ever had we easily caught over 25 trout. We caught them all on soft plastics. K Wig Pollo Loco and Knockin tails 5” salt and pepper paddle
Tail. Thank you so much Captain Anthony for your generosity and supporting veterans.
Trying to see if there’s 10-12 anglers that would like to take part and book a 3 day trip down to the chandelier islands and fish off one of these mother ships. I know a few of us discussed this at the feeding frenzy this past Saturday.
To follow up on Kenneth’s report from this morning. I caught at least 10 redfish and 6 trout all on this wake bait from 6th Sense Lures. I don’t hear a lot about throwing wake baits. It worked perfectly this morning as it rides right below the surface and numerous fish came as I paused the retrieve.
